The main aim of the NRUC System is to promote the safeguarding of young people by providing a centralised information system for central and local Government and to obtain and analyse data on this group of vulnerable young people.
Qualifying local authorities can view a sample of Home Office data, identify main service providers for UASC, and produce reports for the Home Office that will take the place of the Annexe A spreadsheets. This can aid in the planning of services for UASC and identify trends.
- NRUC is currently undertaking a pilot project with four Authorities to lead on using NRUC as the electronic method for future grant claims. The four Authorities are Croydon, Hillingdon, Camden and Kent
- NRUC, the participating authorities and the Home Office have identified a series of changes and improvements to the NRUC system which are currently being enacted by NRUC’s IT provider
- Subscription letters have been distributed for 2007/2008, with Service Level Agreements illustrating the services provided by NRUC
- Local authorities are advised to continue updating information on NRUC
- Training is available to local authorities who should inform NRUC of their requirements and to arrange the necessary support
- The Home Office will provide guidance in the new grant claim instructions on how LAs can claim UASC subsistence payments through NRUC
- NRUC and their IT provider are currently working with the Department for Children, Schools and Families to create a link between NRUC and Contact Point
- The NRUC website has been upgraded and enhanced, and users are encouraged to view the updated website and submit comments and suggestions
